I Trust Sport work on gender equality leadership strategies for eight National Olympic Committees - GAMES project

Posted by Rowland Jack on 5 July 2023

I Trust Sport has advised eight National Olympic Committees (NOC) across Europe that have developed national action plans to improve gender equality in the leadership of Olympic sports bodies in their countries. Working as a partner in the GAMES project (Guidance to Achieve More Equal Leadership in Sport), co-ordinated by the European Olympic Committees and co-funded by the European Union, I Trust Sport implemented a survey last year and analysed the findings to understand the status of gender equality in sports leadership in each country. In 2023 I Trust Sport has provided consultancy support as each NOC has developed their national action plan, which has to be approved by the NOC leadership. Plans set out a mission, core objectives and specific actions to take place over a period of two to five years.

The next stage of the project will be national launch events to take place in each country to introduce the action plans. Specific activities in the plans range from structural measures such as the introduction of gender equality targets at board level through to mentoring programmes and formalising flexible working arrangements.
