Rowland Jack, Founder of I Trust Sport, has written a chapter on the contribution that consultancy can make to improving sports governance in a new book entitled "Good Governance in Sport - Critical Reflections", published by Routledge.
He concludes that consultancy offers a promising and perhaps under-rated set of tools for tackling sports governance. It must be acknowledged that there are important risks, such as the fact that a client may restrict a project's scope of work in a way which is unhelpful. On the other hand, there are also opportunities for consultants to do more, for example if commercial partners in sport determine that responsible engagement in sports governance is in their interests.
